Christians should give because they love God! In 2 Corinthians 9 we are told that they who "sow generously will also reap generously" and that we should give "not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver".
In the Old Testament God's people were to give a tithe which was 10% of their income.
While this is a good practice for Christians, the New Testament does not prescribe a percentage.
It does however encourage cheerful and generous giving in response to the extravagant love and grace of God.
Your offering is used to meet general church operating costs and to help us to fulfill our primary mission of proclaiming the good news of Jesus to our community.
